by Mel & Tim
Well… we thought we did everything right. We followed the rules, checked all the boxes, and counted down the days. But in the end, we didn’t receive Mojo and Charlie’s travel certificates in time—and just like that, our plans had to shift.
Thankfully, our incredible family stepped in and offered to care for the pups while we’re in Paris. They’ll be in good hands for the next month until Mel returns home for a work trip in August. She’ll be back for about four weeks, and during that time, she’s scheduled another round of vet visits and paperwork so we can try again to bring the dogs over in September. Fingers crossed!
A Few Things We’ve Learned:
1. Stay flexible.
Life throws curveballs. Sometimes big, messy, expensive ones. Having a plan is great—but learning to adapt is better. It’s a privilege to be able to shift dates or rebook tickets, so if you can afford refundable fares, seriously… do it.
2. Always have a backup (or two).
Because s*** happens. Ask for help before you need it. Friends, family, neighbors—build a support system in advance. You’ll be glad you did when things go sideways. Even a temporary solution can buy you enough time to breathe and regroup.
3. Let it go.
This might be the hardest one. (Mel will tell you all about it 😅). You can plan for months, triple-check every detail, and still hit a wall. When that happens, take a deep breath. It’s okay to feel frustrated—but try to let go of what you can’t control. Hope for the best, plan for the worst, and always, always lead with kindness.
So for now, we’re rolling with it. Paris without pups—for now—but we’re not giving up. Stay tuned for round two in September. 🐾
